Our Year - 2010

January started off with the second semester of my freshman year. Since all my electives were yearlong, I didn’t see much of a difference except that I was well rested from Christmas break. However, I will say Stage Flight Theater’s The Miser (spring production), kept me pretty busy. It was shortly followed by Goldust, Mountain Vista Choir’s annual mega concert! Both of which were a lot of fun and played a major role in making my year a great one.

I mostly spent my summer being with friends and netflixing (and some long procrastinated summer homework. Hey I’m human!). I did have a wonderful summer break. But just like every year, it did come to an unfortunate end. It was time to go back to school and start my sophomore year.

10th grade consisted of me eating, sleeping, and breathing choir and theater. Just as it should be (however, since we live in an imperfect world I did have to dabble in other subjects like Biology and Geometry but let’s keep this happy). I was on makeup crew for Stage Flight’s first production You Can’t Take it With You where I got to know some wonderful upper classmen that I will miss next year and the year after that and so on. But then, something amazing happened. So for every show, they hold auditions. And for every show, I’m there auditioning. But see they like upper classman better (which is understandable) so I usually end up on makeup crew (which I’ve come to love a lot). Now after You Can’t Take it With You, they held auditions for Honk, this year’s musical. But see when I auditioned. Guess what? I totally got in! So now I’m this cast member called Fluff the duck and all of a sudden I’m attending a bunch of rehearsals, and saying all these lines, and waddling duck style around this stage like a total loon and loving every minute of it! :D

And that is where my year ends, me sitting here at my computer with sheet music and a highlighted script piled messily on my desk as I enjoy my much needed Christmas break once more and hoping ever so much that you are doing the same.
